Best Plain English Document awards
There are two awards in the Best Plain English Document category:
- Public Sector / Non-Government Organisation (NGO)
- Private Sector.
Entry requirements
The Best Plain English Document awards recognise the best examples of plain English documents from each sector. Entries are judged against internationally accepted principles of plain English.
Each organisation may enter up to three complete documents written by their organisation. There is no limit to document length, but we encourage shorter entries where possible. Entries should be whole documents, rather than extracts.
You cannot enter a document that has been edited by Write Limited or a judge for this award. New Zealand judges for this award include Ralph Brown, Simon Hertnon, and Andrea Dickens.
Submit your document online with your completed entry form. If you cannot send an electronic copy of your document, please send us five hard copies so that these can be distributed to the judges.
Public Sector / Non-Government Organisation
This award is open to all New Zealand public sector organisations and NGOs.
Private Sector
This award is open to any private sector organisation that has a New Zealand office.
Prizes for each of these awards
The winners of each Best Plain English Document award will receive:
- a stunning steel and bronze trophy produced for the Awards by Wellington sculptor Campbell Maud
- the latest StyleWriter plain English editing software — single-user licence (from Editor Software)
- a place on any of Write Limited's 1-day public workshops.
Please email [email protected] if you have any questions.
