Best Plain English Website awards — entry requirements for Category 3

There are two awards in the Best Plain English Website category.

  • Public Sector / Non-Government Organisation (NGO)
  • Private Sector

The awards recognise the best examples from each sector of websites that illustrate the principles of plain English.

Public Sector / Non-Government Organisation

This award is open to all New Zealand public sector organisations and NGOs. The award recognises the best example of a highly usable, reader-focused website or intranet. Websites or intranets that have been edited or proofread by Write Limited are not eligible to enter the Best Plain English Website category.

The judges will assess the home page plus up to nine top and lower level pages on the published site.

Entries are judged against internationally accepted principles of plain English for webpages.

Private Sector

This award is open to all private sector organisations in New Zealand. The award recognises the best example of a highly usable, reader-focused website or intranet. Websites or intranets that have been edited or proofread by Write Limited are not eligible to enter the Best Plain English Website category.

The judges will assess the home page plus up to nine top and lower level pages on the published site.

As part of the judging process, entries are assessed against the WriteMark Plain English Standard for Websites.
