Overall, we found this document inviting, clear, and well-designed. The considerable effort of the team behind this document has translated into an excellent document that will equip a broad range of New Zealanders to make an important financial decision. A worthy winner.
We were particularly impressed with the use of tables, diagrams, colour, and accessible language to aid clarity. The document made very good use of headings, the four case studies worked well to illustrate and support key messages, and the photographs added warmth to a potentially dry subject.

ANZ is delighted to receive this award for Plain English Document — Private Sector.
ANZ is New Zealand’s largest KiwiSaver provider and we’re committed to helping New Zealanders save for their retirement. We believe it’s important for people to make well-informed decisions about their KiwiSaver provider and their investment in the scheme. We wanted our refreshed Plain English investment statement to give investors confidence about their choices in KiwiSaver.
We set out to simplify the document while continuing to meet the rules for disclosure. We wrote and designed the investment statement in a way that makes important information easy to find, easy to read and easy to understand.
We also wanted to update and improve the style and presentation of the documents so that they could appeal to the widest possible audience.
We’re proud this award recognises the huge efforts we’ve made to improve the way we communicate with our customers.
