Eamonn Moran QC

Eamonn Moran is judging the Plain English Awards for the third time. He has had a long career as a legislative drafter in the United Kingdom, Australia, and Hong Kong. He was Chief Parliamentary Counsel in Victoria, Australia, from 1999 to 2008 and Law Draftsman, Department of Justice, Hong Kong, from 2008 to 2012. He is now working as a consultant legislative drafter and as a barrister.
Eamonn was awarded an Australian Public Service Medal (PSM) in 2005 for outstanding public service to legislative drafting and public law, and to the promotion of plain legal language. In June 2012, he was awarded a Silver Bauhinia Star (SBS) by Hong Kong for distinguished and dedicated service to the Government and the Hong Kong community and his contribution to the development of plain language drafting in Hong Kong.
Eamonn has been a regular participant at CLARITY and PLAIN International conferences and is a past president of the Commonwealth Association of Legislative Counsel.
