Winner: Best Plain English Sentence Transformation

‘Ready for rehabilitation’

I'm delighted to have won the WriteMark Plain English Award again.

As one who produces medical information for use by ACC staff, health professionals, and the public I need to be plain without losing medical subtleties. So this award is a fantastic endorsement of the wrestling matches between my inner-editor and medical nuances.

Plain English has been called "the art of elegance" but I call it "elegant translation".

  • It translates terrifying tomes into tidy text without losing meaningful content.
  • It structures overblown brain-dumps into clear lean reports.
  • It refuses to play hide and seek with significant points.
  • It eases busy people's lives and respects their time.
  • It respects all who have English as a second language in our global community.

As Leonardo da Vinci said: "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication."

Thanks to all who devote their time to this worthy cause — the international judging panel, all the sponsors, those pushing for plain English legislation, and especially WriteMark for holding these awards to promote the elegant art of plain English. Less is More!
