There are three awards in the Plain English Champion category.
The entry requirements for each award are set out below.
There is only one stage in the judging process for the Plain English Champion awards. The independent judging panel will be solely responsible for selecting the finalists and winner.

The award for Best Organisation is the premier award. This award is open to any New Zealand-based organisation that has developed a plain English culture across the whole organisation.
Organisations entering this award must show evidence of a successful campaign to create an organisation-wide plain English culture.
To enter this award, please send us a detailed description of your plain English policy and how it is implemented across your organisation. Please note, we need five copies of your detailed description for the judging process.

The winner of the Plain English Champion — Best Organisation award will receive plain English consultancy and editing services to the value of $10,000 from Write Group Limited. The prize is to be used on a specific plain English project designed to produce measurable results for the winning organisation (that is, savings in time or money, or both).
The winner will complete the project by 30 June 2009. They will then document the results in a project report by 31 July 2009 and present the report at the 2009 WriteMark New Zealand Plain English Awards.
When you submit your entry, include a short description of the plain English project your organisation would undertake if it won this award (your idea for a project isn't part of the judging criteria).

Judging process for the 2008 Plain English Awards
To enter this award, please send us a detailed description of your plain English project. A Best Project entry may be an externally focused project, or part of an internal plain English project for your organisation.

Please note, we need five copies of your detailed description and your supporting material for the judging process. The supporting material you enter will not be individually assessed against the WriteMark Plain English Standard. So, there is no limit on the word count or the number of documents or resources you can include with your entry.
Supporting material for your Best Project entry can be entered in other award categories. For example:

Judging process for the 2008 Plain English Awards
This award is open to any New Zealand-based organisation wishing to nominate an individual who significantly contributed to a plain English project, or to an organisation-wide plain English culture project.
