This was a strong entry, and argued a good case for the influence that Cushla Scholfield has had within ANZ Bank. Cushla, you are clearly a driving force for the plain English initiatives \u2014 particularly with the Consumer Law Reform project.<\/p>\n
You have been ANZ\u2019s plain English champion and you\u2019ve been very influential (as the bank\u2019s representative on the MBIE Advisory Group). You\u2019ve taken feedback from the Advisory Group back to the bank and applied it to your own and your team\u2019s writing (the loan agreements).<\/p>\n
You have gained \u2018buy in\u2019 from senior managers for plain English by couching it as a step forward for the bank and as a way of meeting their \u2018new ANZ\u2019 goal. That\u2019s a really solid way of drawing their attention to the benefits of plain English.<\/p>\n
We particularly liked your use of words about responding to complaint letters \u201cclearly, simply, and with empathy\u201d.<\/p>\n
