Supreme winners Office of the Banking Ombudsman, with Awards founder Lynda Harris
We decided to enter the Plain English Awards to acknowledge the effort of all our staff, from the top down, over the past eighteen months. Our staff had worked hard to put plain English into daily practice and to translate many of our standard documents and letters into plain English.
Accessibility is one of the key principles of the Banking Ombudsman’s scheme. In order to be accessible to the public, it is very important that our communications are clear and easily understood. We have achieved this by the use of plain English in all of our day to day communications, letters and documents.
We were delighted and very proud to have this achievement recognised by being named best organisation and Plain English Champion at the WriteMark Awards night.
